I don't know about rats, for sure, so I'd be interesting in hearing people's opinions.
My experience with mice, if it has any bearing on how rats work, says that as long as the doe is healthy and strong, she should be able to mother a litter easily. I have also heard, again with mice, that having a 1st litter too late in life, can effect their health negatively.
So I'd like to hear if any of this works the same in rats.
