So in 1 week (next Wednesday) I will be making my way to Indiana to pick up my newest addition. We're very excited to add her to our family. I think we have settled on a registration name, thanks to Stina. There will be TONS more photos once she comes home Happy

Yesss Happy I'm so mad she won't make the match show this Saturday. Too young! Not to mention she likes to just stop and pull backwards when she's on leash!

YAY pink and brown will be so pretty with her!!

But I have to say, I think she's going to be the biggest newf I have so far. She's already 17lbs says my home scale!!!!!!

And so far no accidents!!!

We got a name, we got a name!! Finally we came up with a name, or should I say, rather, she earned her name.

Mousse. I liked moose because she acts like one, so now it's that, except chocolatey!

Here's my 20 lb moose, Mousse Happy

Ohhh maaaan. I can't say I realllyyyy miss the puppy stage (as much as I adore smooshiness) but she's a stunner! I'm already plotting my next pup roughly four years ahead. Wink Newf, Flattie, Dane, or a Dobie. All so different. :S (currently have two Goldens)

Thanks!!

It all depends on what you want. I'd imagine flatties are very high strung. We wanted a dobe but they are high energy compared to what I'm looking for.

I was drawn between a dane and a newf. We were going to get a dane instead of a newf but we saw her and had to have her.

The puppy stage with all three of my newfs wasn't bad at all. Limited accidents, easy easy easy to crate train, hardly any whining in the crate, sleeping throughout the night, and easy to train, though, they like to sleep a lot!

My first pup only ever chewed 1 thing she wasn't supposed to, the second one never chewed anything, the third, just paper so far, and an already broken phone charger.

This pup came here and never messed in her crate and from day 1 begged to go out at the door when she wanted to go to the bathroom.

These guys are lazy lumps but when they are a little older they will go on walks, pull carts, etc.

But beware, when you get one newf, you can't stop there, you need at least 5! lmao!

Yeah I was actually [ ] this close to getting a Flattie. My dream dog since I was a kid. Happy I found a breeder I liked and passed her interview (she's extra careful with her Flat Coats and makes sure she introduces her wildest female to potential owners) but then fate sort of stepped in. The breeder breeds Flatties and Goldens. Our family is very Golden oriented (my grandparents on my father's side bred Goldens and we've had two already). Anyway, she casually asked if I wanted to see her Golden puppies who were 13 days old. I figured, heck, puppies, sure! They were very sweet but it was when she mentioned the mother's show name that she had my attention. Our family Golden, as it turns out, is her aunt. And our first Golden is her great great aunt. So I told my father about this crazy coincidence and after thinking long and hard decided to reserve her last Golden pup, putting off the Flat Coat. We know the line well, and my father being a vet who recommends that line to everyone who asks, he sees a LOT of them in his clinic and says there isn't one he wouldn't adopt in terms of personality. So for my very first dog that's just mine, raised by myself, I figured the known element was an advantage.

That said, I wish I had a more energetic dog sometimes. She's an amazing apartment dog. She'll sleep all day and run like crazy once she's at the park but not for very long. I'd like the option to take part in agility (though I'm lucky and think my particular Golden would work for it - she's easily the most intelligent Golden we've had). There are pro's and cons to each breed and I'm not really set in any particular energy level at this stage in my life which is why I'm waiting to go the Flattie or Dobie route. Happy

The funny thing is of the three Goldens, mine was the most difficult to house train! She crate trained really easily, but when I moved her to a carpeted apartment it's like she thought it was grass or something. The others had maybe one accident each. *headdesk* Chewing wasn't a problem for us either, and I think that's more the owner rather than the dog sometimes. Like being watchful and puppy proofing the house. The one thing my girl chewed was a Blackberry charger I stupidly left on the floor. Rookie mistake.

HAHA yes one of my former housemate has a 3 year old Bernese Mountain Dog female (who's easily the size of a huge male) and they're planning their next one. Happy Her Berner is pretty energetic though, which they could tell before they brought her home. I don't think I could do high energy in a dog that size! I've been bowled over more than once. However, I think that Berner is one of the most obedient dogs I've met that wasn't a service dog, lol.

Awe! What an awesome coincidence!

Yeah having a super hyper dog that's well over 100lbs would be hard. I loveeee dobes! Almost brought one home, which sparked my interest in another pup. One day someone had a little red dobe pup free on craigslist. I wanted her and they said come by to get her. So I'm a block away (30min drive) and they texted me and said "sorry she's gone"....

I was so upset.

So I went on the search for a pup.

Anyhow, I like lowwww energy dogs for lazy owners. Happy

I've alwayys wanted a newfoundland and then when I found out they were low energy, I was determined to get one after my dog passed.

We got our first pup and after her started looking for another right away. We have 2 3 months apart.

The only thing my first pup chewed was the couch! I was sitting on it as I don't leave the pups alone unsupervised but apparently she slipped past me!

I love labs too but I just can't deal with the shedding! The newfs I hardlyy notice hair, but the lab my dad has, non stop shedding all day every day! Its like a carpet on the bare wood floors lol! All in all I see a dane in my future lol.. don't tell the BF Wink
